Lauren Matthews, LICSW specializes in treatment for people who are misusing or dependent on substances. She is the project director for an NIH funded research study at the University of Washington where she helps train school based providers in the Teen Marijuana Check-Up, a Motivational Interviewing, evidence based treatment approach to decrease adolescent marijuana use. In addition, she works with people who experience depression, anxiety, and other behaviors (e.g., self-harm, addictions, fights) and emotions they would like to change.
Lauren completed a two- year Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Level 3 intensive training and additional workshops on Over-Control DBT and Skills Training for Adolescents. Through two intensive courses, she received training in Functional Analytical Psychotherapy. She currently participates in DBT and FAP supervision and consultation groups.
